Requesting copies and information via EROMM

Any registered user may send requests relating to items recorded in the database. To register click on ‘Registration’ on the top bar. (Note that your country must be represented by an EROMM Partner.)

Economise on costs and time by requesting a copy

Libraries which are working with EROMM and have contributed their own records (”EROMM libraries“) will check the database before starting to reformat any item. You may find that the item has been microfilmed or digitised already. In this case you may request a copy via EROMM.

The Requesting facility

When the record is displayed in full screen click on the ‘Copy Request’ button. A form will be shown, which has a short mention of the record on top. Please write your wishes addressed to the possible supplier of the item into the ‘notes’ line, le.g.:

  • Please give price for microfilm copy.
  • Is item available as hard copy? Price?
  • Is item available in digital form?
  • This is a firm order for microfiche copy.
  • Is this the edition printed by Elsevier?

It is important to give your exact user identification (User-ID and password) and e-mail. Without these data your request can‘t be processed. EROMM Libraries may use their special identification to ensure preferential treatment by the delivering agency, which is another EROMM Library.

The system now creates an e-mail message (see the sample), sent by an automated process to the address of the library, that owns the master. As a requester you will receive a copy of this message. At this point EROMM ceases to be involved. All subsequent exchanges will be going on bilaterally between the requester and the library supplying a service copy of an item or any information it is asked for.

Because a part of the American records, that are available in the EROMM file, have been created from conversion of printed catalogues, they are not linked to a supplying library. In such cases you should try to contact the library (mentioned in the record) by means other than EROMM.
