The EROMM Classic database contains full bibliographic descriptions of microform and digital masters. In microfilming as well as in digitization, the copy or file from which all other use copies or files are derived is called the “master”. If your institution creates catalog records for these master copies or for use copies derived from them, you are invited to make these records available via EROMM.

The following sections describe the requirements for data in EROMM Classic. If you are uncertain whether your data can fulfill these, please don't hesitate and just contact us using the form at the bottom of this page.

In general, EROMM Classic accepts records of master copies which meet our Recommendations for Cataloguing. Of special interest are the following two documents, which give an overview of the mandatory elements:

• Recommended elements in the bibliographic record of a digital surrogate
• Recommended elements in the bibliographic record of a microform surrogate

Not all of the listed mandatory elements are required for each record - we can apply some preprocessing and enrich your data with missing values. E. g. if all records of a delivery have been filmed according to the same technical standards, we can add the codes automatically to each record before loading them.

You can send us your data in the way most convenient to you; either as a dump from your local OPAC database (using FTP as transport mechanism), or via an OAI interface or any other means.

We have no requirements for a specific delivery format. We have experience with a variety of bibliographic formats e.g.:

• UNIMARC
• MARC21
• MAB-2

We can handle bibliographic formats in different forms, e.g.:

• field-based
• XML
• ISO-2709 Standard

In general, we accept any bibliographic format offering a similar or higher level of cataloging like the ones mentioned above. In contrast, formats like the Dublin Core Element Set sometimes do not support a sufficient level of cataloging necessary for EROMM Classic.
